I took a moment to catch up with Idols SA season 17 theatre group performances. Boy oh boy I ended up with mixed views, let's unpack them;

I don't know if this [is a] part of the show to crush hopefuls even before they can realise they're top what-what, they're gone. Maybe this is what the show thrives on, but it's not ON. Those contestants sweat short lived like that. NOT CUTE!

I know it's a competition and also a reality show [which means that some things will be exaggerated to revoke a reactio7n]. But for Idols SA the latter seems to be the crux of the show, especially their theatre stages. If that is the case Idols SA must own it. Must own that their show's group stages is a reality hyped up part of the competition. And that would be okay.

The same goes for the judge's meanness. Tjoeeeeee! You would think that Randell is the only b*tch on that panel.

The song picked by the show are also wrong, Blackstreet, Envogue, Nsync, SWV, Next, TLC, Destiny's Child, Dru Hill and Brownstone were artists on the lineup. As an eighties born I can't relate to three thirds of the artists, how much more would idols hopefuls be. Because a majority of them are in their mid twenties. They'll first have Google the artist's song lyrics, style, genre and so on and so forth. And they'll have to do all this in 48 hours. It's insane the amount of pressure these kids go through. No wonder we have a high number of suicide cases with the younger generation. We put them through things they never anticipated, we then put their temporary failures on tv, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok for the world to see. Shame on you!

A recipe for disaster and be ridiculed!

And later in on the show, you'll hear the judges telling contestants to choose songs their age, songs that they can relate to. Yet at theatre stages contestants were shoved with songs and artists they never heard of in their young lives. Also not cute.

Idols SA producers should mix up song and artist choices to afford contestants fair grounds to compete on. This will minimize unfair drama and hopefuls would be eliminated fairly.

Let's hope they did better  for solo performances.

That's all!
