Big Daddy SA- Releases 1st piano Track after years of Gospel

Big Daddy SA teamed up with award winning producer Dj Micks. Through this collaborative effort they engineered a unique sound which
challenges what ampanio could evolve into. ‘Ngiyabonga’ is the first of a 3 part
single series.
Born Silas Mudau, this Venda national captures the essence of Africa through his distinct desire to create music that will spark joy in others lives. Big Daddy SA grew up in the lush green and scenic village of Tshimbupfe-Hamanavhela in Venda, his childhood was where the spark of music ignited, through church activities and various music competitions music became second nature to Big Daddy. Upon reaching university Big Daddy SA also decided to study the theory of music as an additional subject.

The richness of Big Daddy’s love for music stems deep from a place of worship as well as from a distinct place of belonging. Big Daddy SA had a long relationship with music as a young teen to his early twenties to the point where he released a gospel album in 2005 as part of a duo with his musical partner Paul.
Big Daddy SA is however no stranger to the South African entertainment industry, he played a character on the SABC 2 soapie Muvhango, in 2019 to 2020 Big Daddy played the role of a representative the Venda King.

Ngiyabonga — A purposefully robust amapiano song that carries the weight of a message of gratitude. This amapiano flavour is a message of thanks for the people all across Africa. Engineered  through musing masterful instruments not only to entice the earworms but rather it summons acute sentiment, through its spirited staccato rhythm, the “afro spiritual”  progression of the percussion while the mzansi flavor is perfectly paired with brisk aura saxophones.

“The song was written from a place of gratitude. I was thankful for a lot of things at that moment, I was thankful for life, my family, my career and so many other things. I realised that I was nothing without the power of that goodness, the lyrics began to echo in my head, and I began to write. I then realised that the song would need to be carried out by a young vocalist and I reached out to Thulasizwe. My experience with music has always been gospel so when we hit the studio we agreed to stay within my comfort zone which was gospel.

I never imagined that my lyrics would turn into an amapiano song. DJ Micks began with the arrangement of the beat, we collectively started structuring and co-writing. We created an amazing track and did justice to my lyrics.” - Big Daddy SA

“We are living in an era where things are not easy for anyone, many have lost their jobs, some have had to start over, but we can not lose faith, we can't lose hope because the GOODNESS is in that hope. Lets trust in God”.

Big Daddy SA writes beautifully intricate lyrics that have the ability to cross over from the more mature audience to an audience that has their pulse on trends like the famous ama2000’s. Ngiyabonga is the start of a new era in music, simply due to the fact that Big Daddy SA created an amazing cross-over. A unique and effortlessly intelligent way that keeps the youth geared toward the light by letting them enjoy the sound of music that they prefer but the difference comes in with the message that the song conveys.

Over and above the message and carefully curated instruments, there is a clever and very comercial approach to the lyrics and the embodiment of the song. Although it has a very strong and purposeful intention, the song does not come across with an aggressively religious agenda. It still carries a message of hope and gratitude but is a sing along, a dance along as well as worship along. The artistry and creativity raises the bar and standards and ultimately adds fuel to what amapiano could possibly evolve into.

A musical crossover of Gospel and Amapiano! Ngiyabonga  is part of a three single series, Big Daddy SA is to release one more song for the festive season and will release a third by March 2022. Big Daddy showcases his amazing song writing capabilities alongside his sensually masculine voice.

Ngiyabonga in this instance refers to how we should leave room for gratitude. Giving thanks and being grateful could potentially change a hard circumstance.
