Griff |
Cofi Centurion is bringing back Comedy Nights set to happen every second Tuesday to be hosted by Thapelo Tips 'Shampoonaiza' Seemise.
|
Shampoonaiza |
I attended the first of it's kind and it was a lovely evening full of gags headlined by the one and only American-South African Comedian - Arlen 'Griff' Griffin.
|
Sammy-Fever |
Sammy-Fever opened the show with his killer jokes that left the crowd on the floor. Sammy graced the stage with his funny dance moves followed by a story touching on the man's upbringing which kept the crowd bursting into laughter throughout his perfomance. |
Mashata |
The RnB and Soul Comedic genius Peter Mashata was also there to support his industry coluegues. Mashata was there to show face lol if you know what I mean. Peter perfomed a sweet and short skit which left the crowed wanting more. He announced his upcoming show happening on the 3rd June at State Theatre.
|
Mpho Popps |
Also there to show face was Mpho Popps Modikoane. Mpho mesmerized the audience with a killer skit as he warmed up the stage for the man of the night. He admitted he haven't been on stage in a while but this short skit felt really good. We see you Mpho!
|
Griff |
The highlight of Griff's perfomance was his Karaoke stint of Lebo Sekgobela's Hallelujah Mdumiseni. That was a heartwarming moment, I loved it. Griff doesn't just claim to be the American-South African, he is also looking into moving to the Eastern Cape to make a home and learn more about his roots and the South African Traditions. Griff's performance was funny from the moment he walked up the stage talking to the crowd about his journey that lead him to falling in Love with South Africa. Griff said I should tell you all that he writes his own material and he tells his jokes the same way he tells them everywhere hes goes. According to Griff South Africa is home for him and he also jokingly bragged that he can pull an all coloured crowd and make them laugh. I see you Griff. Continue being self and Fashioning Modern Africanism.

Yours Truly with Roni Modimola |
I also had a chat with one of the biggest South Africa Comedy industry pioneer - Roni Modimola. Rony introduced comedy to South African Television on SABC1 in a programme called Pure Monate Show. Roni jokingly admitted that he has been living under a rock. "The only different is that rock has a wifi" he adds as he confirm his upcoming show alongside Celeste Ntuli set to take place at Cofi in Centurion on the 7th June 2020.
