Spotted at the Mobicel VX20 Launch!!!

Last Thursday Romz and I made our way to the busy and beautiful Rosebank to witness the launch of the new Mobicel VX20 at the awesome InstaNation. Romz and I travelled in different cars, coming from the Centurion/Midrand side. Traffic was trafficking thanks to load shedding, the city was load shed from Diepsloot, Riversand, Fourways all the way to Rosebank. It was a mess! We got to the event a little late, but it didn’t look like we missed much. The event was packed with some celebrities, content creators and some influencers.

From a distance the phone looks really cool, it really does. I unfortunately have not come close to the device yet; It’s been a week now since I have been in talks with one of the event organizer’s, Sipho Cga Bopha.  He has advised me that he spoke to Brent from Mobicel and they promised to deliver the device to me. One of the reasons why Cga and I were talking is because I had reported a case of them to him by some of the people that were packing and packaging the goodie bags for the event because mine was empty, the Mobicel headphones were emptied out of my goodie bag. I was hoping I would’ve gotten the devices by now so that I can add at the least speak from personally experiencing the new Mobicel device offering. We’ll have to settle for what Mobicel says about their new VX20…

The Mobicel VX20 LTE

The VX20 LTE smartphone combines innovative technology with a sleek, modern design. The device is the first to boast Mobicel’s all-new 48-megapixel AI camera which intelligently optimizes objects or scenery, allowing for spectacular picture and video quality. Once created, this content can be uploaded seamlessly to social media platforms through the device’s LTE capability, bringing high-speed data to the user’s fingertips.

To optimize functionality, Mobicel has significantly upgraded the battery, internal memory, and processing power with the VX20. The device offers users 64-gigabytes of storage, a long-lasting 4500mAh battery, dual-SIM, and a powerful, lightening-speed processor which augments its overall performance.

Mobicel has also placed emphasis on design and appearance, wrapping a vibrant, glass-like casing to the back of the VX20’s 6.52-inch screen. The polychromatic casing blends light and color into a posh, vivid hue, bringing elements of sophistication to the outward aesthetic.

The XV20 LTE is offered at a launch price of only R2299.

The event was hosted by legendary Actor Luthuli Dlamini, model and daughter of Gerry Ransteli-Elsdon Lerato Legoale with appearances from Sbahle Mpisane, Nkuli Tshirumbula, Refilwe Modiselle and Yaya Mavundla just to name a few.

Mobicel chose Bonginkosi Dlamini, also known as Zola 7 as their brand ambassador. I couldn’t have thought of a better person, Zola 7 is perfect fit.

Team Berry hostess were polite to the guests. We liked that.

InstaNation is such an amazing place, you can go there to have fun with friends and family, it would be appropriate.

Nkuli Tshirumbula actor later turned model later turned influencer, now dj and chef. We love a person with nine lives. The industry is rife for a person not to change with the climate. I also felt Nkuli was like an extra on that stage instead of owning it… somethings never change!

Former Generations (The original) actor Luthuli Dlamini was a wildcard for me, the man was all over the show making rather uncouth comments that I wish not to repeat. I don’t know if it’s old age or trying to stay relevant, but the comments were not giving. Having recently attended sexual harassment course, after those remarks, I would need to sit Luthuli Dlamini down and tell him to tone it down a little as his jokes might come across as offensive or sexist. Other than that, he was a nice vibe to the crew, he was engaging and wanted/demanded more out of the audience.

Romley T with Yaya Mavundla looking cute in pink, they also stuck to the theme.

Transwoman Yaya Mvundla refused to take a photo in front of the Mobicel banner, she reminded me that she is a brand now, that her association translates to remuneration. Not those exact words, but something to that effect.

Zamo Dlamini with Lunga Khabanyane.

This is what I found when I opened my goodie bag and I immediately reported to Cga. Bloody thieves.

                                  Bongi

The phone does look amazing and its correctly priced too.

Beautiful people all around.

InstaNation is a nice venue, look at Lunga looking all kinds of model.

I honestly don’t have an opinion of Sbahle Mpisane, she was quiet most parts more like Nkuli. Public speaking is tricky, if you don’t naturally have the goods you better learn the skill.

Cici also made a stint appearance, what is she doing these day?

The venue was packed and there aircon was off because of load shedding and drinks were not flowing. Point in case, the gentleman behind Romley.

You can also see television personality Samora Mangesi was also there with BFF and fellow contributor Kgopolo Phil Mphela looking rather frail or maybe stressed out or something, whatever is troubling him meds can fix.

The winner and owner of the new Mobicel VX20.

See Luthuli Dlamini making those cringeworthy utterances.

I also saw Journalist Qhama Dayile, Thanduxolo Jindela, Konje what does Thanduxolo do these days? The last I checked he was managing every artist in Joburg *rolls eyes*

Refilwe Modiselle with Luthuli Dlamini.

The gorgeous Refilwe Modiselle was there, she said she compared the Mobicel VX20 with her phone (iPhone) and everything was almost the same except the picture quality. Refilwe did not mention the name of the phone she uses.

The main what what Zola Dlamini well known as Zola7 was the entertainment for the night. I don’t know if its old age or what, but the classic Kwaito hits do the trick every time. Zola was kind and pleasant with the people the entire time he was there. We love you Zola and wish nothing, but the best! The young ones should learn a trick or two from you.

The event did not cater alcoholic beverages which was a downer for me, as a reason after the announcements were made everyone left the event. No one stuck around. I wonder whose idea it was not to serve alcohol at the event… The crowd was a bit uptight too, I remember asking an influencer for a photo and he just looked at me like a piece of trash and walked away.

A big THANK YOU to Sipho Cga Bopha for inviting us to be part of this exciting launch. Another THANK YOU in advance to MobicelSA for the phone and wireless headshones, I am certain I am going to enjoy the combo. And lastly thank you to Team Berry and InstaNation for making us feel welcomed.

I am closing off with the words of MobicelSA CEO, Ridhwan Khan, this device will better enable South Africans to be, do and have more. More efficiency, more mobility, more productivity, and more freedom.

Until next time, PEACE!!!
