LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION FOR THE VANTAGE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

South Africa and the African continent as a whole have a lot of stories to tell, and we live in a generation that has found creative ways to tell stories, that is why we introduce the Vantage Short Film Festival.


A project three years in the making, Vantage Media and Communications being a company built from nothing, but a dream is proud to bring this amazing project to life, not only to celebrate the short format film industry, but to create opportunities for many people, especially young people who do not have access to facilities and resources to pursue their film making or acting dreams.

The Vantage Short Film Festival brings to life a number of categories that will cater for those who have been in the film making space for a number of years, and will also be catering for those looking to make their way into the industry, while providing development opportunities to those who need them.

DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Vantage Short Film Festival will travel to selected townships around South Africa to host workshops in film making, and give opportunities to some of the workshop attendees to participate in the short film festival.

This initiative is created to allow many young people in townships the opportunity to follow their dreams equipped with enough information and knowledge to give them an opportunity to succeed and earn a living from doing what they love.

FESTIVAL CATEGORIES AND FORMATS.

As said above that the Vantage Short Film Festival has different categories to give enough opportunities to as many people as possible, here is how we have segmented the film festival.

Time Formats: there will be two time formats for the film festival, 1. Films ranging between 10 to 15 minutes, and 2. Films ranging from between 25 to 30 minutes. Also films shot with Smartphones will be given special recognition for those who cannot access professional equipment to creat their films.

Film Categories:

1. Comedy (both time formats)
2. Action (both time formats)
3. Drama (both time formats)
4. Biographies (both time formats)
5. Documentaries (both time formats)
6. History (both time formats)
7. Township Stories (both time formats)
8. Continental Stories "Africa" (both time formats)

At the end of the film festival, there will be awards to awards the best films of the festival and best performers.
