Another two bite the dust: Thobeka ‘Venus’ Mtshali and Naledi ‘Nale’ Mogadime have been evicted from the Big Brother Mzansi house

Brother Mzansi housemates shook as Venus and Nale are the latest to be evicted. Yup, we’ve reached that stage of the game where no one is safe, no matter how popular they might be.

When asked by host Lawrence Maleka if she saw her eviction coming, Richards Bay native Venus said: “Yes. I felt too peaceful the whole week, weirdly calm. I’ve been in the Big Brother house for seven weeks, that was the first time where I felt so at ease. I knew that there was a shock that’s coming.”

When asked about her in-house romances with B.U. and Themba, and who of the two she might choose to be with, she said: “I’ll let time tell. I don’t know the versions of themselves outside of the house. I played my game; I don’t know how they played theirs.”

Nale from Pretoria wasn’t nominated for eviction by anyone but ended up in danger after Libo used his Head of House veto power to nominate her – this was particularly shocking because the two had formed a close friendship on the show.

A smiling Nale said to Lawrence: “It sucks. Libo and I, we do our chores together, we sleep in the same area, we talk about everything. And now you’re gonna put my a** on the chopping block? That is dark.”

Asked what her highlights in the house were, she said: “Me laughing, me having fun, the sad moments, the happy moments – everything about this journey is insane.”

Also, up for eviction this week were Gash1, Thato, Nale and Mphowabadimo.

This week things heated up between Housemates, both romantically and tension-wise. As Terry told Lawrence when he was checking in with the housemates during the eviction show: “Everybody’s just become more competitive… The energy hasn’t changed but everybody’s ready to fight. I like it.”

From calling it a “validation” to “a manifestation come true”, making it to the top 10 has been a huge deal for the remaining housemates. And now, with another two out of the game, the deliciously grand R2-million prize is closer than ever. To paraphrase Lawrence, pretense between the housemates is over.

In addition to the grand prize for the winning housemate, at least one lucky viewer wins R20,000 each week.
