The Mess That Was South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA)

The 17th South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) happened this past Saturday on October 1st at Mbombela Stadium, in Mpumalanga. The ceremony was suppose to be all glitz and glamour, but the red carpet prepared for the venue was such a mess and disorganised.

Guest's at the Red Carpet

The gorgeous guests from all over the country came looking stunning in designer garments and traditional attires that never made it to the red carpet extravaganza. The Red Carpet Host, Tsholo Maseko arrived late whilst almost everyone and some of the special guests have already been seated at their respective tables.

Special VIP guest's and nominees were disappointed as the evening turned out to be a waste of their precious time.

"What was suppose to be the celebratory evening of honouring the winners of the prestigious awards turn out to be a flop. The organisers of the ceremony must be shameful for how they actually handled the event. We were served cold food which looked like it was prepared the previous night. I wasn't happy at all with the treatment we received from the organisers of the ceremony, the dressing room situation was a disastrous experience. I felt so bad as we had to seat backstage in dark waiting for our time to perform." Said the special guest who asked to remain anonymous

Satmas media co-ordinator Keletso Dlamini said he cannot comment much as they were aware of what happened and they apologised for the inconvenience.

“Yes, we are aware of the disaster that happened and we sincerely apologise for the stampede. We are working on fixing the order of the red carpet for the next coming awards,” he said.
