SAFTA Winner Film Editor Matodzi Nemungadi Get An International Nod At The Cannes World Film Festival

Multi South African Film and Television Awards winner Matodzi Nemungadi is proud to have been part of the award winning film Lubunyu which means the naked intruder in TshiVenda. Lubunyu won Best African Film Award at the World Film Festival at Cannes. The awards were hosted in May 2025. 

Matodzi is one of the highly sought after drama editors in South Africa with 3 SAFTA's under his belt, 2 for The River Emmy nominated telenovela and 1 for Isithembiso.

Some of the best things to have experienced while working on Lubunyu is being able to wear several hats as budget wasn't sufficient to afford all the crew members needed. Budget restrictions aren't new with South African productions but hopefully with more films winning internationally budgets will be increased so production companies can pay cast, crew and production members accordingly.
