MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Madoda Sambatha, announced on , Wednesday, 23 July 2025, during the Department’s 2025/26 Policy and Budget Vote Speech, the official return of the iconic North West Agricultural Show, scheduled for 18 to 21 September 2025 at the Vryburg Showgrounds.

This Agricultural show is a collaborative approach between Local government ,through the Dr.Ruth Segomotsi District municipality and the Naledi local municipality, and the North west department of Agriculture and Rural development “We are bringing back a platform that once united farmers, producers, youth and innovators, a true celebration of agriculture,” said MEC Sambatha.
The revived North West Agricultural Show, inclusive of the Vryburg show, will no longer be a once-off occasion but part of a broader, province-wide campaign to reposition agriculture as a dynamic driver of economic growth. From 2026 onwards, each district in the North West will host its annual agricultural show before the end of June Molema. These shows will lay the groundwork for the main provincial event in Vryburg each September. Vryburg , formerly known as the “Texas of South Africa”, is the host for the annual provincial agricultural shows.
MEC Sambatha described the new approach as a transformative intervention that reimagines agricultural events as platforms for impact. “The North West Provincial Agricultural Show and its District Agricultural Shows will act as a vehicle to attract and trigger concerted focus on agriculture as a business by our farmers. This show will be a platform to showcase and market the agri-businesses of our farmers and attract buyers and off-takers. Not only will it strengthen agricultural marketing, but it will also help bolster agro-tourism within our province. Although the key focus is enticing and encouraging farmers to pursue sustainable, market-oriented agricultural production and enhancing agricultural tourism.
The North West Agriculture Show (NWAS) is set to empower farmers with sector knowledge and skills. It will also create a conducive environment for interactions among farmers and stakeholders while promoting agricultural development and sustainability.
The show will be re-launched in Sep 2025 with Naledi Local Municipality's Vryburg Showgrounds as a permanent home nestled within the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.
The event will be held over three days (18-20 September 2025) and will include master classes, exhibitions, and one-on-one sessions for farmers to interact with financial institutions, industry leaders, manufacturers, and distributors of agricultural machinery.
This revival of the Agricultural show is a strong showcase of the implementation of the district development model (DDM)through proper intergovernmental relations (IGR). The upcoming show will feature exhibitions by both emerging and established producers, highly competitive animal showcases, and insightful panel discussions that will tackle issues of innovation, resilience, and sector growth. It will also offer targeted career guidance sessions aimed at inspiring and equipping the next generation of agricultural leaders.
This is not merely a gathering, it is a definitive statement of intent, a celebration of excellence, and a powerful showcase of the North West Province’s agricultural muscle. The event is poised to position the province as a national benchmark for integrated Agri-development, strategic partnerships, and Agro-tourism potential.
MEC Mr. Madoda Sambatha said NWAS was a welcome addition to the province. “For many years North West has been the food basket of South Africa, here in our Province agriculture is not just a livelihood, but a source of pride and a legacy. We are delighted that NWAS will be a platform to showcase the best out of our province. We know about the resilience and ingenuity of our farmers, and this will be celebrated on a grand scale. I extend an invite to all in the province, the country and neighboring countries to descend on Vryburg to witness what we have to offer,” he commented. Further details will be shared
