MAGGI Presents Their Open Up The Kitchen Campaign

South Africa’s most loved noodle and seasonings brand introduces a culinary Conversation  on inclusivity in the kitchen

Who belongs in a kitchen? This question may raise eyebrows in many households in South Africa. The answer depends on many social factors including how we were brought up, gender roles and cooking skill. MAGGI brought together some of Mzansi’s most loved TV personalities and gave them a chance to tell Their ‘Open up the Kitchen’ stories.

‘Open Up the Kitchen by MAGGI is a converstion starter to get South Africa to be in the kitchen more. The aim is to invite all of us, regardless of cooking skills, and demistify the misconception that the kitchen is meant only for those that are great cooks or thought to belong in the kitchen. Our MAGGI range of noodles, sauces and seasonings are made for every cook to make dishes that they can enjoy’, says Sheila Chisina, Marketing Manager, MAGGI, NestlÉ South Africa

The brand brought together Masasa Mbangeni, Gabriel Temudzani and Mduduzi Mabaso to challenge them in the kitchen by sharing the stories of kitchen inclusivity as well as their experience with MAGGI in their households.

“My relationship with the kitchen has been influenced by the gender stereotypes that were instilled in many of our African homes. As a result I’ve never felt like I belonged in the kitchen, because the matriachs in my family insisted it wasn’t the place for me. Which is why I am extremely excited about this movement on kitchen inclusivity by MAGGI”, commented South Africa’s award winning thespian Mduduzi Mabaso.

This iconic brand is on a mission to champion the goodness of home cooking with family and friends using ingredients that South Africans are familiar with and can be found in our kitchen cupboards.
