Idols SA season 17 auditions go online nationwide

  Idols SA 2021 will have a completely different composition for season 17 auditions. The current status quo does not allow us to do things the traditional way. Therefore, to keep up with the spirit of staying apart so we can be together again, the Idols auditions this year will deviate from the culture of hosting auditions in four big cities, namely Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.  For season 17, there is a positive aspect in the restrictions that come with Covid-19. All eligible hopefuls from all corners of our country can enter without worrying about getting to the audition's venue. However, there will be strict rules to adhere to in order to have a successful submission for the SA Idols online auditions. The video must be 30 seconds long of just singing. All other information will have a part where it is catered for on the entry. It is important for the participants to prepare their 30-second-long clip and all the relevant information before they log on to submit 

Minister in the presidency, Jackson Mthembu, has died of Covid-19 related complications.

Jackson Mthembu  (5 June 1958 – 21 January 2021) was the Minister in the Presidency  of South Africa 's government, and parliamentarian for the African National Congress (ANC) . Previously, he served as the Whip  of Parliament  for the ruling ANC and as well as the national spokesperson for the ANC.  He served as the MEC   for Transport in Mpumalanga  from 1997 to 1999, during which he was criticized for spending R 2.3 million on ten BMWs.  He passed away early on Thursday, 21 January 2021 due to COVID-19 related complications. President Cyril Ramaphosa said in a statement on Thursday that Mthembu died earlier that morning. “Minister Mthembu was an exemplary leader, an activist and lifelong champion of freedom and democracy. He was a much-loved and greatly respected colleague and comrade, whose passing leaves our nation at a loss. “I extend my deepest sympathies to the Minister’s family, to his colleagues, comrades and many friends,” he said. Mthembu was married to Thembi Mthembu.

Actress and TV presenter Phumeza Mdabe will host  Abandoned,  a new show on Mzansi Magic that will help orphans who were abandoned as toddlers to track down their family members.   Phumeza, who was also a presenter for  Our Perfect Wedding , will help those who were left on park benches, commuter stations or at orphanages to search and reconnect with those who abandoned them – their mothers or fathers – in a reality TV show that seeks to help them find a sense of belonging. It was with great shock and sadness that we  heard about the death this morning of Dorah Sitole from Covid complications. She was 67. Dorah was a significant icon, respected and loved by all who met her.  Everyone at NB the publishing house and her fans on social media extends sincere condolences to Dorah’s family at this most difficult time. 40 Years of Iconic Food , was published in October 2020 and is a celebration of Dorah Sitole’s culinary journey, which took her from a hungry childhood in the townships to kitchens and cuisines across Africa and beyond.
