For the love of local fashion, Proudly South African’s   Local Fashion Police   returns with a whole new justice team of four. In support of the clothing, textile, footwear, & leather sector, Proudly SA alongside   Palesa Mokubung, JJ Schoeman, Otsile Sefolo, and Gert-Johan Coetzee are looking for South Africans who not only love local fashion, but also embody   local is lekker   in their everyday lives. Through the  Local Fashion Police 2023  consumer competition, Proudly South African aims to promote and celebrate the labour-intensive local clothing, textiles, footwear, and leather (CTFL) industry – which has a potential to create a significant number of much-needed jobs and to boost the local creative arts economy. The Cultural leader, Thando Hopa whose work has advocated for diversity, inclusion and representation on the global platform has come full circle and completed a historical work dubbed, The African Fashion Legacy (AFL). The African Fashion legacy is Thando Hopa’s brainchild, a project she gave birth to after two years honing the idea with the assistance of singer and songwriter Angelique Kidjo. The Africa Fashion Legacy is a creative concept that explores the history of the transcontinental african fabrics that have been part of our lives, be it the centre of celebratory gatherings such as wedding or the identity of a ethnic originality.
