Multichoice Leads at SAFTAs 17 Craft Awards With Multiple Wins Across Various Categories

Celebrating the Best in South African film and television production The first of two glamorous evenings, where the South African film and television industry come together to honour the hard work and dedication to the craft of storytelling, commenced in Johannesburg on Friday evening .   Multichoice has once again showcased their exceptional commitment to quality and creativity by scooping a raft of awards at this year's South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) 17 craft awards ceremony. The prestigious event took place on Friday, 29 September at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg.   Leading the pack were productions from kykNET, M-Net, Mzansi Magic, and 1Magic. Notable shows such as the final season of the popular Hotel,  Survivor South Africa: Return of the Outcasts , and  DiepCity  Season 2 were among the  many that were recognised  for their outstanding achievements.   Blood Psalms  took home the award for Best Achievement in Cinematography, while

The River Top The List With 10 SAFTAS

Last night we took it kwa twitter as the awards went digital due to the Covid-19 outbreak and hosted by mzansi's radio and TV personality Dineo Ranaka. Mzansi Magic's The River was a major winner at the awards, scooping 10 different prizes, including Best Achievement in Directing - Telenovela and Best Telenovela. The show's Sindi Dlathu won the Best Actress - Telenovela award for her often-flawless performances as Lindiwe on the show, while Mary-Anne Barlow won Best Supporting Actress- Telenovela for her character Gail. Kgomotso Christopher may have left  Scandal!  but she still bagged a Best Supporting Actress - TV Soapie award for her role as Yvonne Langa. Bongile Mantsai walked away with two awards, one for Best Actor - Feature Film and Best Actor- Soap for his roles on  Knuckle City  and  Scandal!  respectively. Somizi's reality show won Best Structured or Docu-reality Show. Loyiso MacDonald won Best Supporting Actor - Telenovela for his role in  The Queen. Best Act

SAFTAS 14 NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The 14th annual South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) nominees were announced at the Mall of Africa on Friday morning. Hosted under the custodianship of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) the awards seek to honour and celebrate South Africa’s local film and television talent, under the theme #LoveSATalent. The NFVF joined forces with 205 industry experts from across the country to form a judging committee that spent over two months deliberating and rounding off the final nominees of the 70 categories, which were all then later audited by Nexia SAB&T. Leading this year’s nominations is the popular telenovela  The River , which raked in 15 nominations across numerous categories. Close on its heels was the soapie  Isibaya , the prison drama  Lockdown S4  and the feature film  Fiela se Kind  who all clinched 11 nominations each, while the drama series  The Republic  rounded things off with 10 nominations.
