Gauteng Provincial Government to launch integrated sport and arts programme in schools

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, together with the Gauteng Department of Education, will on Wednesday launch the highly anticipated Sport and Arts Integrated Programme for Gauteng Schools.  The Integrated Schools Sport and Arts programme, which has been dubbed the Gauteng CreActive Sports and Arts Schools Programme, aims to breathe new life into school sport and elevate competitive participation in the arts and recreational activities in schools.   The programme will be implemented in over 400 no fee schools in the province, with the introduction of Netball and Soccer Leagues as pilot sporting codes for participating schools.  In addition, the introduction of an arts and culture programme will give creatively inclined learners an opportunity to compete and showcase their talents in activities such as dance, chorale, clap and tap, drum majorettes and school war cries, fine arts and many others.

PUBLIC VOTING OFFICIALLY OPENS :  Here Johannesburg, South Africa  - The International Executive Committee of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in conjunction with the African Union Commission (AUC) recently released the official list of nominees for the 2022 edition.         Only entries within the validity period of 20 August 2021 - 5 August 2022 were considered for nomination for this year’s awards.  Leading the nominations on a regional basis this year is the Western African region, with 134 nominations, representing 35 percent; while the Eastern African region follows closely with 69 nominations, representing 18 percent; the Southern African region races closely with 68 nominations, representing 17.8 percent; while Central Africa pulls in its weight with 52 nominations, representing 13.6 percent; while the Northern African region follows closely with 49 nominations, representing 12.8 percent.     Also, the Global music region, which represents music from Non-Africans in the di

Idols SA top 8 give spectacular performances with music from their parents’ high school crushes

Tapping into music their parents grew up listening to, the  Idols SA  season 18 top 8 took us on a dazzling trip down memory lane with some of the world’s greatest hits from artists such as The Beatles, Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey.    With over 7 million votes this week, Mzansi decided that their top 8 was: Nozi, CeeJay, Zee, Kabelo, Ty Loner, Thapelo, Mpilo and Noxolo. Sadly, Tesmin-Robyn’s  Idols SA  journey came to an end.    The show started off with an electrifying group performance paying tribute to kwaito legends TKZee. Idols SA Season 18 Enjoys Its Hottest Episode Yet As Heritage Special Pays Tribute To South African Icons

With Heritage Month in full swing, last night’s   Idols SA   season 18 episode celebrated the incredible musical history of Mzansi – with contestants recreating Southern African   classics in the youth’s image. Icons such as Hugh Masekela, Thandiswa Mazwai, Caiphus Semenya and Brenda Fassie were honoured by the contestants who received enough votes to sing another day.   With over 7 million votes cast this week, the 9 who made it are: CeeJay, Kabelo, Mpilo, Noxolo, Nozi, Tesmin-Robyn, Thapelo, Ty Loner, and Zee. Sadly, Lerato’s   Idols SA   journey has come to an end.   The show started on an upbeat note, with Noxolo taking on Joe Mafela’s   Shebeleza   and turning it into a house-influenced banger. The judges loved it, with Somizi Mhlongo giving high praise: “Bra Joe is so proud wherever he is.”   “You are a natural.
