Commemorating Sustainability Month, Nestlé East and Southern Africa presents an exhibition profiling three of its flagship sustainability initiatives in South Africa

FROM LINEAR TO CIRCULAR, THE PROGRESSING STORY OF NESTLÉ’S SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES Nestlé East and Southern Africa (ESAR) is proud to present  From Linear to Circular , an art exhibition profiling three of its flagship sustainability initiatives that are part of its RE programme. The initiatives are profiled in a body of work by artist, Dillon Marsh, whose photography explores the relationship between humans and their environment. The exhibition, hosted at Melrose Gallery in Johannesburg, opened on 7 th  June 2022 and will run for the duration of sustainability month, until 30 th  June 2022. From Linear to Circular  captures, using Marsh’s unique lens and perspective, the ongoing development of three flagship pilot projects: RE-Imagine Tomorrow in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni; carbon capture in Hammanskraal, Pretoria; and Africa’s first net zero dairy farm in George. Johannesburg - Earlier this year, South Africa’s popular confectionery brand, NESTLÉ SMARTIES globally announced their switch to 100% recyclable paper packaging. To celebrate this milestone, the brand has collaborated with contemporary recycling artist, Mbongeni Buthelezi to design a digital guide for caregivers to follow in creating fun origami pieces using the brand’s recyclable paper. The NESTLÉ SMARTIES and Mbongeni Buthelezi collaboration is intended to drive the brand’s #SmartiesCreateWithPurpose narrative which is set to inspire conscious creativity by using recyclable goods. “Essentially, the purpose of the collaboration is for Buthelezi, through his craft, to inspire and stimulate creativity among South Africans, through his use of the NESTLÉ SMARTIES new 100% recyclable packaging.  We hope that caregivers and their children will find it fun and an engaging way to educate children on planet sustainability issues through the creative expressions in repurposing the paper packagi

NESTLÉ NIDO 3+ today announced it’s new and improved recipe, tailor-made for the nutritional needs of little ones aged three to five years.

Childhood is an important stage that requires age-specific nutrition.  According to  Food and Nutrition Bulletin 2017, Vol. 38(3) 405-  South Africa’s children between the ages of one and five years, do not get adequate vital nutrients in their daily diet.  Some of the critical nutrient gaps identified for young children are a deficiency in Vitamin A, Zinc and Iron.  Infact between 44 and 62% of SA children under 5 do not get enough Iron, 58% have an insufficient intake of Vitamin A and 55% of this age group’s intake of zinc is less than adequate. These sub optimal nutrient intakes affect our childrens ability to grow and develop optimally, it affects the health of their immune systems which all contributes to poorer adult outcomes in terms of cognitive development and overall  health and well being. NESTLE WINTER WARMER RECEIPE WITH THE COOKIST:RED LENTIL AND COCONUT DAHL

Do you sometimes feel like preparing something quick to serve with either bread or leftover rice? We all have those days that we just need a quick fix after a long day. Here's something to try out this weekend as we continue to keep warm during this long winter. Don't forget to take snaps and tag @NestleSA and @Fashioning_Modern_Africanism  RED LENTIL AND COCONUT DAHL INGREDIENTS   • Olive oil, extra virgin 30 ml • Garlic, fresh, peeled, roughly chopped 20 g • Cumin, dried 12 g • Garam Masala 16 g • Red Lentils, cooked, cooled 800 g • Tomatoes, crushed 300 g • Maggi Chilli Sauce 60 ml • Coconut Milk, low fat 600 g • Salt, fine 2 g METHOD   1. In a heavy bottomed pot, heat the olive oil over a medium heat. 2. Add the garlic and fry for 2-3 minutes. 3. Add the cumin and garam masala and fry until fragrant. 4. Add the lentils and fry for 3-4 minutes. 5. Add the crushed tomatoes, chilli sauce and coconut milk and bring to a slow simmer. 6. Simmer uncov

Nothing beat a bowl of soup on cold day to keep warm. With the cold front upon us this weekend bafwethu, we need to keep warm and nurse the cravings. It's been a very hectic week, both emotionally and mentally straining. Let's give our body some time off and reward it with this delicious bowl of corn and roasted red pepper soup. Don't forget to take snaps and tag @Nestlesa and @Fashioning_Modern_Africanism on your socials.  INGREDIENTS • Peppers, red, large 8 units • Maggi No oil Salad Dressing, Italian 50 ml • Olive Oil, extra virgin 50 ml • Garlic, crushed 20 g • Onions, medium dice 200 g • Cumin, dried 3 g • Paprika, smoky 3 g • Corn, frozen 500 g • Maggi Chicken Stock 1000 ml • Maggi Chilli Sauce 30 ml • Maggi Lazenby Sauce 50 ml • Pepper, black, fine 5 g • Coriander, fresh, roughly chopped 5 g METHOD   1. Growing up in a small township popularly known as Biaba, hangei Nzhelele, Rice was only served with fried chicken, gravy, butternut, beetroot and salads _ for some unknown reason salads were usually caleslaw and potato salad. oh yes! Hey bafwethu! This year Lady winter came out strong and she's slapping really hard. While the cold front is upon us, we need some winter warmer dishes. Some of you might know that I love the art and science of cooking. Cooking for me is science, the mixture of specific ingredients to get a certain taste. Thats Art bafwethu! Firstly, lemme educate you some more as to why I call myself a cookist. I create my own receipe or add other ingredients onto other people's receipes to create my own _ Cookist.
