AFRIMA UNVEILS NOMINEES LIST FOR 2022 EDITION

PUBLIC VOTING OFFICIALLY OPENS :  Here Johannesburg, South Africa  - The International Executive Committee of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in conjunction with the African Union Commission (AUC) recently released the official list of nominees for the 2022 edition.         Only entries within the validity period of 20 August 2021 - 5 August 2022 were considered for nomination for this year’s awards.  Leading the nominations on a regional basis this year is the Western African region, with 134 nominations, representing 35 percent; while the Eastern African region follows closely with 69 nominations, representing 18 percent; the Southern African region races closely with 68 nominations, representing 17.8 percent; while Central Africa pulls in its weight with 52 nominations, representing 13.6 percent; while the Northern African region follows closely with 49 nominations, representing 12.8 percent.     Also, the Global music region, which represents music from Non-Africans in the di

The partnership will see both organisations collaborating on a number of events and projects, the first of these being ‘ The Importance of Music Videos’   event taking place next Tuesday, 6th July at 6:30pm. A powerhouse panel of music experts and industry players will unpack this topic. These include award winning singer / songwriter Shekhinah, filmmaker / director Zandile Tisani and Nomvula Sibeko and Vangile Msimang from Trace. Singer, songwriter, rapper, producer born Gift Zuma, better known as Gift Official is a creative that sees no limits in creating his craft. Gift Official was born in South Africa but has spent much of his life in the UK.      Gift Official gives blends of South African music he was previously exposed to as well as the unique Manchester influence that embodies his current environment.  “Too Many Man” was originally planned to be released in 2018, “The song was slightly ahead of its time” the young artist explains.  In 2019 with the entire world in complete chaos; including diasporas from Africa , Iran and even Europe. He has worked with the greatest that the music industry has to offer in their different dynamics displaying his versatility.  Working with the likes of Zakes Bantwini, Phuzekhemisi, Big Nuz, Zanda Zakuza and NaakMusiq just to name a few. He has a number of hits such as Memeza where he worked with Benny Maverick and the astound Dladla Mshunqisi and hasn’t stopped bringing the heat. He brought another Spirit Banger "Shaya" which featured the lyrical Beast and musical maestro Mondli Ngcobo and more hits such as Thutha and Falling with Mduduzi.
