Early reviews are glowing. Cape Talk’s Sara-Jayne Makwala King calls the Showmax Original “edge-of-your-seat” and “jaw-dropping”, adding, “Rosemary’s Hitlist is easily the most gripping crime story since Devilsdorp…” Ndlovu was sentenced in 2021 to six concurrent life terms for the murders of six members of her family, including her sister and the father of her only living child at the time. They were murdered for killsurance: funeral cover payouts worth over R1.4 million to Ndlovu.  Ndlovu was also sentenced to an additional 30 years: 10 years each for fraud, incitement to commit murder, and the attempted murder of her mother, Maria Mushwana, her sister Joyce, and Joyce’s five children.  Watch the Rosemary’s Hitlist trailer:  Rosemary’s Hitlist  is produced by IdeaCandy, the company behind the SAFTA-winning true-crime sensation  Devilsdorp , and directed by Valen’tino Mathibela (the first season of  The Real Housewives of Durban, Lebo M - Coming Home ), with SAFTA winner Richard Grego

Rosemary’s Hitlist  is produced by IdeaCandy, the company behind the SAFTA-winning true-crime sensation  Devilsdorp , and directed by Valen’tino Mathibela (the first season of  The Real Housewives of Durban, Lebo M - Coming Home ), with SAFTA winner Richard Gregory ( Steinheist ) as a consulting director.    A trail of killings. One beneficiary.  On 12 October 2015, Ndlovu’s live-in lover, Yingwani Maurice Mabasa, the father of her only living child at the time, went missing. Three days later, his body was found in  Olifantsfontein -  with 76 stab wounds. Mabasa had 16 policies in his name, totalling over R400 000 - and Ndlovu was the beneficiary of all of them… These weren’t the first payouts from suspicious deaths to Ndlovu. She was eventually sentenced in 2021 to six concurrent life terms for the murders of not only Mabasa but also five of her family members: her sister, two nephews, a niece and a cousin. Together, their killsurance was worth over R1.4 million to Ndlovu.  Ndlovu was

Hosted by writer Kim Windvogel and journalist Romantha Botha, the adults-only documentary series will take a broader view of what South Africans get up to behind closed doors, and, well, everywhere else too.  The first episode features a diverse range of South Africans talking openly about their first experiences of sex and sex education. It’s aptly called Clueless.  “ Honestly, this is a hundred times better than I had thought it would be,” says Izak de Vries on  Litnet . “I loved the way Kim Windvogel and Romantha Botha normalised sex talk. This is not a dirty little thing to watch under the blanket. Every parent, every teacher and every partner can learn from the experts, who explain things in a way even I can understand.”  Siv Ngesi Whether it’s Moonchild Sanelly talking about her first blowj*b, Siv Ngesi talking about losing his virginity or Lesego Tlhabi (aka Coconut Kelz) talking about browsing p*rn on her school’s computers before she learnt to erase her search history, it’s cl

Showmax has just dropped the first trailer for Somizi & Mohale: End of the Road, an unauthorised documentary premiering on 25 August 2022.

“We must never forget the task God has given us,” Mohale texted Somizi on the morning of their traditional wedding. “Our wedding is going to be a story told in a way that will shake the entire continent and help people understand that loving a person of your same sex was never and will never be wrong.” In 2020, when  Somizi & Mohale: The Union  set a then-record for the most first day views on Showmax, it felt like a historic moment: a mainstreaming of gay marriage on a continent where it’s still largely illegal, in a country where two men marrying each other was only legalised in 2006.  Watch the trailer: Somizi & Mohale: End of the Road  unpacks their relationship, its public breakdown amid the leaked audio of Mohale accusing Somizi of abuse, and what this meant to fans and the broader LGBTQIA+ community in South Africa.  Somizi & Mohale: End of the Road  follows on from the reality series  Living The Dream With Somizi  S5 and the tell-all special  Mohale: On The Record ,

The BBC documentary collection Resistance in a Hostile Environment, from Oscar-winning filmmaker Sir Steve McQueen is now streaming on Showmax.

The omnibus includes  Uprising,  which won the 2022 BAFTA Award for Best Factual Series, and  Black Power: A British Story of Resistance , which was nominated for a 2022 BAFTA for Specialist Factual. Both have 100% critics’ ratings on  Rotten Tomatoes .  The documentaries examine the systemic racial injustice that shaped what it meant to be Black in Britain from the late 1960s to the early 80s, and trace the real-life stories of resistance that inspired McQueen’s five-film anthology series  Small Axe , which won BAFTA and Critics’ Choice awards among many, many others.  As  IndieWire  puts it, “ Small Axe  grew out of a desire to shed light on Black resistance movements in Britain... So, too, [do the] documentaries… which chronicle pivotal stories from recent British history largely ignored by media. Viewed collectively, the films make it clear that McQueen almost single-handedly aims to disrupt the preferred timeline with films that detail tumultuous crusades for change that cross bor
