IDOLS16: Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung will walk in wearing an outfit that will get viewers talking when Idols SA returns to Mzansi Magic this Sunday – South African proverb.

Well, it may not be a real South African proverb, but renowned rapper and the show’s host Proverb will be back with his puns and witty lines when Idols SA returns for Season 16 of what promises to be “more than just a show”. The talent show will start with the airing of mass auditions on Sunday, 02 August 2020 at 17:30 – in time to take its place on the social media trends list. This year’s auditions were filmed before lockdown in March in four cities - Pretoria, Durban, Jo’burg and Cape Town. “As we turn 16, your living room will, from this Sunday, transform into front row seats of the biggest entertainment spectacle, enough to make you forget about your lockdown woes. This is because Idols SA is back and we are really excited about the show – from the wooden mic, right up to the live shows. Zakwe Drops Ngiyabonga's Visuals and Album Goes Gold

Multi award winning hip hop superstar, Ntokozo Zakwe, collaborated with multi talented and musically ordained Tribal, to bring a spiritually uplifting song titled Ngiyabonga. The music video to this song debuted on Thursday the 23rd for the first time on Trace.  The construction phase of this body of work "Cebisa" was quite a gruesome challenge which came with blessings and lessons until it came alive, says Zakwe. His younger brother Mzwandile Zakwe, who is also the manager of the hip hop sensation said "Cebisa" is Zakwe's best body of work that he had ever done, and we are indeed honored. Idols SA has announced that the popular reality singing competition will be returning to Mzansi Magic for its sixteenth season, premiering on Sunday, 2 August 2020.

Idols SA’s  sixteenth season will be premiering on Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 2 August 2020, after being delayed due to the lockdown-enforced production break and interruptions to the audition process. The show took to social media on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, to make the announcement with a short clip of resident judge, Somizi Mhlongo, excitedly revealing the news. Idols SA  has since shared numerous behind-the-scenes visuals of host, ProVerb, recording voiceovers for the pre-production phase. Season 16 will see returning judges, Somizi Mhlongo, Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi, offering advice and guidance to the contestants throughout the competition. The upcoming season will feature numerous format changes, with many of the auditions being conducted online due to the lockdown restrictions. The production has yet to reveal the new format of the live shows, which will also be cognisant of the social distancing regulations.

A slew of new artists is claiming its place on the SAMA nominations list, while a few old favourites make their presence felt.  Prince Kaybee, already with four nods in the bag from the Record of the Year (ROTY) and Music Video of the Year (MVOTY) categories announced last week, extends his lead with five more. The dance music DJ is in the running for the coveted Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Best Produced Album, Best Dance Album for Re Mmino and Best Collaboration for Fetch Your Life featuring Msaki. His total tally for SAMA26 stands at nine, making him the most nominated this year.  The DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small partnership has yielded great gains with them dominating the Best Collaboration category with three nods featuring them on Akulaleki by Samthing Soweto; Love You Tonight by MFR Souls and Tender Love by Sha Sha. Do you sometimes feel like preparing something quick to serve with either bread or leftover rice? We all have those days that we just need a quick fix after a long day. Here's something to try out this weekend as we continue to keep warm during this long winter. Don't forget to take snaps and tag @NestleSA and @Fashioning_Modern_Africanism  RED LENTIL AND COCONUT DAHL INGREDIENTS   • Olive oil, extra virgin 30 ml • Garlic, fresh, peeled, roughly chopped 20 g • Cumin, dried 12 g • Garam Masala 16 g • Red Lentils, cooked, cooled 800 g • Tomatoes, crushed 300 g • Maggi Chilli Sauce 60 ml • Coconut Milk, low fat 600 g • Salt, fine 2 g METHOD   1. In a heavy bottomed pot, heat the olive oil over a medium heat. 2. Add the garlic and fry for 2-3 minutes. 3. Add the cumin and garam masala and fry until fragrant. 4. Let's take a step back behind the scenes into the engine room where the production of KZN's most loved breakfast show takes place. Let's catch up with Music compiler/technical producer and events coordinator from Umgababa, South Coast of Durban. Born Sbusiso Mthembu, Dj Flair is a technical producer at Gagasi FM for "The Uprising" which is the biggest, if not baddest morning breakfast show in KZN. He is also a music compiler at the station. In University, back in 2010, DJ Flair picked up the fundamentals of DJing from a "res mate" and has never looked back. With his determination and passion for music, he taught himself how to produce music. In 2014, Flair produced the song " Sokwenza nje kwaMax" which he gave to DJ Howzin and to his surprise it ended up forming part of the playlist of SABC 1's TV drama Zone14. In 2016, Flair was a resident DJ on Friday nights with DJ Lesoul on Gagasi FM, a year later when she joined the "Midday shandi
