The DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards 2022 Winners Announced In Star Studded Event

On the back of a two year hiatus due to COVID-19,   DStv and Mzansi Magic hosted the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DStvMVCA) at the Sun Arena in Pretoria on 25 June. The popular awards show was broadcast live for DStv subscribers. Local celebrities and delegates shined on the much loved blue carpet, dressed to the nines and ready to support their peers as they walked away with the coveted statuettes. The host, Lawrence Maleka, had a handle on the proceedings and everyone who stepped up to the mic to present an award –   the likes of Boity, Mpho Wabadimo, PH, Khutso Theledi and Presely Chweneyagae  – brought good humour and a positive attitude. Zakes Bantwini leads the nominees list for #SAMA28 with a total of seven nominations.

After already earning a nod in the Record of the Year (ROTY) category announced last week for Osama with Kasango,  Zakes Bantwini leads the nominees list for #SAMA28 with a total of seven nomination. His album, Ghetto King, is up for Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Best Dance Album and Best Engineered Album awards. His two songs, Imali with   Karyendasoul featuring Nana Atta and Osama with Kasango,   are also in the running for Best Collaboration award .    Already with a Music Video of the Year (MVOTY) and four ROTY nominations under his belt, DJ Maphorisa’s Best Remix of the year nomination for Feel Good brings his SAMA28 tally to six.   Mobi Dixon and Msaki are not far behind with four nominations each. Mobi’s When House Was House contends for Best Dance Album, Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year awards. The year may have been slowed down by lockdown levels adjustments and scaled-down live concerts, but the music did not stop. KwaZulu-Natal’s finest gems shine in the first provincial entertainment awards

Pearl Thusi, Robert Marawa and DJ Tira lead the pack of nominees in the newly unveiled KwaZulu-Natal Entertainment Awards (KZNEA). The trio scooped three nominations respectively when the list was revealed in Durban this afternoon. Pearl Thusi is up for Female Actress, Female TV Presenter and KZN’s Most Loved awards; while Marawa received nods for Radio Presenter Male, Male TV Presenter and KZN’s Most Loved awards; and DJ Tira walked away with nominations in Best Music Promoter, KZN’s Most Loved and Special Achievement Award. In their inaugural year, the KZNEA, are an ambitious award event that aims to honour outstanding achievements and contributions in entertainment by personalities and acts that were born and raised in KZN or have close ties with the province.  The winners will be announced on 15 December 2020 at a glittering and star studded event in Durban.
