Idols SA Top 16 Ladies Own The Stage in Second Week Performing Live For Public's Votes.

Last week the guys set the stage alight with their performances under the theme “the best cover songs” in this 16 th   edition of Idols SA. Last night, it was the ladies’ turn to belt out their renditions as they vied for a spot in the top 10. “The ladies were absolutely magnificent to watch and the stage is being set for one of the best seasons yet in terms of talent,” said Nomsa Philiso, the director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net. “I really don’t envy the viewers, because this competition is going to be tight. It will be hard to choose a winner. Finally Idols SA season 16 Top 16 contestants were announced last night. What has been dubbed the final judgement over the years was delivered by the Idols judges, Unathi, Somizi and Randall to 31 hopefuls were all emotionally not ready for the news. While 15 contestants, among them was DJ Zinhle’s favourite Matevhu, found out that it was the end of the road for them, 16 of them were put out of their misery when they were given the news that they will be going ahead for coming weeks to battle it out for the ultimate first prize. IDOLS16: Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung will walk in wearing an outfit that will get viewers talking when Idols SA returns to Mzansi Magic this Sunday – South African proverb.

Well, it may not be a real South African proverb, but renowned rapper and the show’s host Proverb will be back with his puns and witty lines when Idols SA returns for Season 16 of what promises to be “more than just a show”. The talent show will start with the airing of mass auditions on Sunday, 02 August 2020 at 17:30 – in time to take its place on the social media trends list. This year’s auditions were filmed before lockdown in March in four cities - Pretoria, Durban, Jo’burg and Cape Town. “As we turn 16, your living room will, from this Sunday, transform into front row seats of the biggest entertainment spectacle, enough to make you forget about your lockdown woes. This is because Idols SA is back and we are really excited about the show – from the wooden mic, right up to the live shows. Idols SA has announced that the popular reality singing competition will be returning to Mzansi Magic for its sixteenth season, premiering on Sunday, 2 August 2020.

Idols SA’s  sixteenth season will be premiering on Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 2 August 2020, after being delayed due to the lockdown-enforced production break and interruptions to the audition process. The show took to social media on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, to make the announcement with a short clip of resident judge, Somizi Mhlongo, excitedly revealing the news. Idols SA  has since shared numerous behind-the-scenes visuals of host, ProVerb, recording voiceovers for the pre-production phase. Season 16 will see returning judges, Somizi Mhlongo, Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi, offering advice and guidance to the contestants throughout the competition. The upcoming season will feature numerous format changes, with many of the auditions being conducted online due to the lockdown restrictions. The production has yet to reveal the new format of the live shows, which will also be cognisant of the social distancing regulations.

Idols SA 2020: Pretoria auditions for Idols SA underway

The sun was out and so are Idols hopefuls. Pretoria is vibrant and oozing personality and pizazz. First in line is Dumisile Mchunu pictured above. She is inspired by her two boys to give it a try on a quest of being the next Mzansi’s Idol. “I want my 5-year-old and 1-year-old to see me on TV and be proud of their mom. The 29 year old works in a paralegal firm and this is her last opportunity to audition as she turns 30, currently based in Pretoria she hails all the way from Estcourt in Kwazulu-Natal. Dumisile started queuing from Friday at 22h00. Aviwe Sono is a 25-year-old young man with soul. It is his second time auditioning for Idols and says, “I’m here to express my musical ability and I will let the judges decide if I’m what they are looking for or not.” Aviwe is into reggae music, jazz and soul. He enjoys listening to Bob Marley. Anything soulful Aviwe is your man. He is an only child and is from Centurion. He finished his multimedia studies in 2018 at the TUT arts
