Miss South Africa launches brand new digital platform for Miss SA 2022 Entries

The Miss South Africa Organisation launches the Miss South Africa App as the new content hub for all exclusive content, voting and entries for Miss South Africa 2022. Entries for Miss South Africa 2022 are set to open on Friday 01 April 2022. Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida Didn't Shine So Bright At The Miss World Pageant

Miss South Africa 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida, unfortunately did not make it to the Top 12 at the 70th Miss World pageant, which was held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico this morning.  Representing South Africa, twenty-six-year-old Musida – who comes from Ha-Masia in Venda in Limpopo – was one of the front runners throughout the competition. Her win in the prestigious Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) segment of the pageant fast tracked her into the top 40 Miss World semi-finalists. Musida’s BWAP win was based on her advocacy campaign that focused on removing the stigma associated with mental illness. Miss World judges were impressed with the weekly IGTV Live sessions – Mindful Mondays – that she hosted with mental health experts. These shone a spotlight on “taboo” subjects like depression and suicide. KwaZulu-Natal’s Lalela Mswane has been crowned Miss South Africa 2021 at the glittering pageant finale held at Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town.

The 24-year-old – who comes from KwaSokhulu in Richards Bay – graduated with a Bachelor of Law from the University of Pretoria. She is also a model and a dancer. Mswane received R1 million in cash as well as a further R3 million worth of sponsorships and prizes, including the use of a fully furnished and serviced apartment at the luxurious Central Square Sandton, with fabulous interior décor by Vursa, and a Mercedes Benz C-Class Sedan for the year of her reign.   The two runners-up were Moratwe Masima, a qualified doctor from Midrand in Gauteng, and BCom Law degree student Zimi Mabunzi from eQonce (King William’s Town) Eastern Cape. Both received R175 000.   These Top 3 will represent South Africa at the world’s three most prestigious pageants – Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational. SA’s top fashion designer Sello Medupe shine at Miss South Africa 2021 pageant

Some of this country’s best fashion designers will be dressing the Top 10 finalists at this year’s Miss South Africa live pageant in a not-to-be-missed celebration of South African talent.   Miss South Africa 2021 will be crowned on Saturday, October 16, at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town. The event will be screened live from 17h00 on M-Net (DStv Channel 101) and Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) and will also be streamed online for an international audience on MissSA.live with extra highlights and exclusive content. Anele Mdoda has been associated with Miss South Africa since 2013 as a judge but this is her first time hosting the pageant. South Africa’s Thato Mosehle is the second runner-up for 2021 Miss Supranational

Miss Supranational South Africa Thato Mosehle has made the Top 3 at the Miss Supranational pageant held in Nowy SÄ…cz, Poland, at the weekend. It was a good night for the African continent with Chanique Rabe from Namibia taking the title. Twenty-six-year-old Mosehle, from North West, represented South Africa against contestants from nearly 60 other countries in the competition, and was one of the front runners throughout the build-up to the finale. The show was aired live on the Miss Supranational Facebook and YouTube channels. Said Mosehle: “Congratulations to Chanique, she is going to be a fantastic title holder and I wish her everything of the best during the coming year. This whole experience has been beyond my wildest expectations and I am delighted to have done so well. Poland is a magical country and everyone we met has made us feel so welcome. MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2021 TOP 10 FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

Cape Town, Tuesday, August 3, 2021:  This year’s Top 10 Miss South Africa finalists – one of whom will be crowned Miss South Africa 2021 on Saturday, October 16 live from Grand West Arena in Cape Town – have been announced. For the second consecutive year, the pageant will take place in the Mother City and will be simulcast live on M-Net (DStv channel 101) and Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 17:00, as well as live-streamed on the My DStv App. International audiences can also tune in via the online platform at misssa.live.   The contestants represent four provinces – Gauteng has four (with one from Tshwane), followed by the Western Cape with three, the Eastern Cape with two and Kwa-Zulu Natal with one entrant. Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida authors children’s book

Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida can now add the title of author to her impressive list of achievements. Musida has written a children’s book –  Shudu Finds Her Magic , published by Jacana Media in six languages and with delightful illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne – which will be available in bookstores around the country and online towards the end of August.   The book is inspired by Musida’s own childhood and the bullying she experienced when she moved to a new province and a new school.   Musida is a well-known advocate for mental health awareness, and this year launched her online mental health initiative # MindfulMondays  on her Instagram platform @shudufhadzomusida ,  in conjunction with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) and Discovery Vitality. Meet the Miss South Africa Top 30 vying for the title of Miss South Africa 2021 and vote for your favourite to make the Top 10. The Top 30 is an impressive and diverse group. Among them are two medical doctors, an attorney, a commercial pilot, an environmental specialist as well as models, graduates and students. Some have started their own businesses while others run charitable organisations. There is also the first transgender woman – Lehlogonolo Machaba from North West – to openly enter the Miss South Africa pageant.   Three have entered before – they are Miss South Africa Kgothatso Dithebe who was Top 5 in 2019; Olin Shae de la Cruz who believes this year will be third time lucky (she placed Top 15 in 2020 and Top 26 in 2017) and Catherine Groenewald who was Top 30 in 2019.
