THE 12TH ANNUAL FEATHERS AWARDS TURNED UP THE LOVE

The 12 th  annual Feather Awards took place last night at the home of the Constitution in Braamfontein, Constitution Hill and what an evening it was. Having to adapt to the new ‘norm’ the awards observed social distancing with an intimate evening filled with electrifying performances, emotional acceptance speeches and plenty of energy. Synonymous  for it’s colourful live entertainment and witty commentary, the carefully scaled down affair did not fail to deliver with outstanding live performance from the super talented legendary songstress Gloria Bosman. Guests flew the LGBTIQ+ flag high and played out this years the theme “Turn Up the Love’ in all it’s glory.                         “With the current on going global pandemic, we made a call that the show must go on, obviously respecting all government regulations. The Middelburg Soulful Night 2020 festival to replenish the soul

After months of lockdown desolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, soul music lovers are in for a treat on 21 November 2020 at the Middelburg Banquet Hall in Mpumalanga. An eclectic mix of soulful artists will converge in the Mpumalanga town for a night to remember. They vary from Samthing Soweto, Theo Kgosinkwe, Brian Temba, Presss to Simmy, Blaq Diamond and Encore. DJs on the line up are DJs TBose Mokwele, KK, DJ Emza, Peter. The proceedings will be MCd by comedian Peter Mashata. Tickets cost R250 per person and are available at Computicket. Doors open at 17.00. Alcohol will be sold. MCM: Veteran musician and DJ Oskido's Kalawa Jazmee Records has signed a deal with Idols SA.

The winner of the current season 16 of the music competition will be signed to Oskido’s independent record label. This comes after the show parted ways with Gallo Record Company after three years.  As Idols SA’s new recording home, Kalawa will be in charge of artists and repertoire (A&R), artist management and marketing. Gallo has worked with Idols SA winners Luyolo Yiba, Yanga Sobetwa and Paxton Fielies during their partnership. As the search continues for the 16 th   Idols SA winner, the competition is getting tougher, with the contestants continuing to impress with their exceptional talent.  However, there can only be one winner and as impressive as Be was last week, she became the second contestant in the top 10 to say goodbye to that dream, having failed to secure enough votes to progress to the top eight. But for the remaining contestants, it was yet another week to bring on their A-game.   Last night, the top eight paid homage to those who are still new to the music industry but are owning their space. The 24-year-old – who comes from Ha-Masia in Limpopo – has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pretoria. She is currently doing her BA Honours in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand. She will receive R1 million in cash as well as a further R2 million worth of sponsorships and prizes, including the use of a luxury Sandton apartment and a Mercedes-Benz cabriolet for a year.   First runner-up was medical doctor Thato Mosehle (25) from Klerksdorp in the North West who received R250 000 in cash. Second runner-up Natasha Joubert (23), a B Com graduate from Pretoria, Gauteng, collected R100 000.   For the first time in the history of the Miss South Africa pageant, the trio will represent the country at the world’s three most prestigious pageants.
