Idols SA Season 16 has certainly not being an easy journey for this year's contestants, the guys who make up the top 16 proved they can take the uncertainty and disruption of the lockdown in their stride and bring their best to the stage.   The theme for this past sunday evening was  the best cover songs , and the guys brought on to the stage all the soul and passion they could bring to the stage. Finally Idols SA season 16 Top 16 contestants were announced last night. What has been dubbed the final judgement over the years was delivered by the Idols judges, Unathi, Somizi and Randall to 31 hopefuls were all emotionally not ready for the news. While 15 contestants, among them was DJ Zinhle’s favourite Matevhu, found out that it was the end of the road for them, 16 of them were put out of their misery when they were given the news that they will be going ahead for coming weeks to battle it out for the ultimate first prize. Theatre Week has seen 31 winners advancing to battle it out for the 2020 Top 16 spots in an intense round that required contestants to focus on their performance while having very little social interaction with their peers. Well, it may not be a real South African proverb, but renowned rapper and the show’s host Proverb will be back with his puns and witty lines when Idols SA returns for Season 16 of what promises to be “more than just a show”. The talent show will start with the airing of mass auditions on Sunday, 02 August 2020 at 17:30 – in time to take its place on the social media trends list. Idols SA has announced that the popular reality singing competition will be returning to Mzansi Magic for its sixteenth season, premiering on Sunday, 2 August 2020.

Idols SA’s  sixteenth season will be premiering on Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 2 August 2020, after being delayed due to the lockdown-enforced production break and interruptions to the audition process. The show took to social media on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, to make the announcement with a short clip of resident judge, Somizi Mhlongo, excitedly revealing the news. Idols SA  has since shared numerous behind-the-scenes visuals of host, ProVerb, recording voiceovers for the pre-production phase. Season 16 will see returning judges, Somizi Mhlongo, Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi, offering advice and guidance to the contestants throughout the competition. The upcoming season will feature numerous format changes, with many of the auditions being conducted online due to the lockdown restrictions. The production has yet to reveal the new format of the live shows, which will also be cognisant of the social distancing regulations.

In Season 15 of Idols SA he was fourth in line and today he managed to be the first in line for this season. The late Thami Shobede was his vocal coach as well his inspiration. “Thami kept on pushing me to do more and stay focused so that I can make it in the music industry” Lungisani said.
